AECP – With a Twist Class Project

altenew, with a twist, card making, Nicki hearts cardsHello! Let’s make 2 cards the first using washi tape, layered stamping and unusual card shape. The second card features a double shaker window.  This class focused on adding details and elements to change up the usual card presentation. These cards are also focusing on the inspiration challenge theme for September.

Washi Tape and Layered Stamping:

First, I used Altenew’s large washi tape to cover a 4.25 x 5.5 panel. Next, I did some layered stamping on my flowers and leaves. I wanted to hang my sentiment off the side of the front panel, so I chose a word sentiment. I die cut “hugs” 3 times out of white card stock and glued these together.  Next, I added glossy accents to the hugs and let it dry.  Finally, I die cut the shadow of the hugs die from Altenew jet black cardstock and mounted the white “hugs” die to it.

I added my washi tape panel to the front of the card and cut this at an angle with my trimmer. I did this so that the black card stock would be visible from the front. Next, I mounted my flowers and leaves around the top with glue and the middle flower with foam tape. Last, I heat embossed the rest of my sentiment on black card stock and mounted it with the “hugs” slightly offset on the front panel.

Double Shaker Card:

The second card is a shaker window card which means you can see through the shaker to the inside of the card.

First, I used a punch tool to cut Christmas tree. Next, I used the “Piles of Presents” layering stamp set. I used masking to place all the presents and to layer stamp them. The second layer of each stamp is Versamark Ink with clear embossing powder. All the bows are heat embossed with silver.

Next, it was time to make the double shaker window.  I added a piece of acetate to the back of the card front. Then, I took the card base and cut the same tree out of it and placed acetate on top of the cutout to make the 2nd part of the window. All that was left was to add double sided tape to the entire card front, pour the embellishments in the tree area and add the top layer with the presents on top of it. After the shaker window was complete, I added a piece of green coordinating card stock so that it could be seen through the window.
