Altenew’s NEW Release: Stunning Embossing Folders, Dies & Stencils You’ll Love!

Are you ready to add some new tools to your card-making collection? Altenew’s latest release has arrived, and it’s packed with gorgeous embossing folders, versatile dies, and creative stencils that’ll make your next card project pop! In this post, I’ll walk you through four unique card designs using these new goodies. Let’s dive into some serious crafting inspiration!

Card 1: Layered Texture with a Stencil + Embossing Folder Combo

For the first card, I wanted to experiment with layering texture by combining a stencil with an embossing folder, and the results are gorgeous!

  1. Stencil the Background: I started with a smooth white cardstock, applying Altenew’s new Shine On stencil in a soft ombré effect. The blending adds a beautiful gradient that makes the design come alive.
  2. Emboss for Dimension: Once the ink was dry, I placed the stenciled cardstock in Altenew’s Ways to Thank You 3D Embossing Folder. Embossing over the stencil pattern created an incredible layered effect where the raised areas have extra depth.
  3. Finishing Touches: I die cut the sentiment “friend” from the new Scripty Sentiments Set. Next, I cut a strip from another embossed panel. I added some coordinating ink to create a raised sentiment strip. Last, I added some gem sparkles.

This technique is a great way to take any stenciled background to the next level by adding both texture and visual interest.

Card 2: Elegant Floral Die-Cut Over Embossed Background

For the second card, I used Altenew’s Fresh Flowers dies over a subtly embossed background to create an elegant and layered design.

  1. Create the Embossed Background: I chose a light-colored cardstock and embossed it using Petal Palooza for a subtle, textured backdrop. Next, I swiped Cloud White Pigment ink over the design.
  2. Add the Die-Cut Floral: I used the new colored cardstock to create some beautiful orange flowers and added these on top of the embossed background.
  3. Sentiment & Finishing: Next, the sentiment was die cut from mirrored gold cardstock using the new Scripty Sentiments die set. I added a thin gold frame to the front as well.

Card 3: Layered stencil with Matching Die-Cut Sentiment

For the third card, I went with a layered stencil design to create a beautiful ombre effect that pairs perfectly with a bold, coordinating sentiment.

  1. Ink Blending with Stencils: I started with Altenew’s Scattered Tiles and used a blue ink family on each stencil. This pattern is perfect for masculine cards
  2. Coordinated Die-Cut Sentiment: To make the sentiment pop, I used Halftone Happy die cut. By blending the same shades in a gradient on the sentiment, it mirrors the background perfectly, creating a cohesive and striking look.

Card 4: Layered Stencil and Embossed Background with Bold Floral Die-Cuts

For the final card, I combined a stenciled and embossed background for a unique layered look, then brought in bold, vibrant die-cut florals as the showstopper!

  1. Stencil and Emboss the Background: I started with Altenew’s Floral Melody Builder, creating a soft, patterned background on white cardstock. Once the ink was dry, I placed the stenciled panel into an embossing folder with a similar pattern to create an interesting background.
  2. Bold Floral Die-Cuts: The stars of this card are the bold die-cut flowers in rich shades of purple and orange. These bold flowers stand out on this background!
  3. Finishing Details: To tie it all together, I added a sparkling die-cut sentiment in gold mirror cardstock, complementing the vibrant flowers. A few gem embellishments added a touch of sparkle and elegance.
