Washi Tape Tips with Altenew Giveaway
Hi! Today, I’m getting out my washi tape and also participating in a card making video hop with the Altenew educators. I often forget about my washi tape, so I pulled out some items and created 4 cards. The theme of the hop is “Let’s Get Sentimental” which means we are focusing on sentiments. Go to the video to enter for the $120 worth of prizes.
First, I created some thin stripes on a piece of card stock with the skinny washi. This background will give you a 2 for 1. The mega “hello” die will be the main feature of all these cards. I like using “hello” sentiments because I can go back and custom the inside of the card to fit most occasions such as “happy birthday”, “I’m thinking about you” or “just a note.”
Card #1 Washi Stripes
Next, I cut the sentiment out of this panel of washi and saved it for the next card. I added a brushed silver sentiment and created a shaker window with this card.
CArd #2 Sentiment with striped Washi
This background is also washi tape! Just grab the sentiment cut from the previous card and some jet black card stock to create a slight shadow. Then, I added some more stripes from the original panel I made.
Card #3 Bold Sentiment
I placed the striped panel on top of a panel of white card stock with a 3D embossing folder imprint. All that was left was to add the bold, black sentiment. For the last card, I was curious as to what would happen if I used a 3D embossing folder over a panel of washi.
Card #4 Alcohol ink + Washi
Have you tried alcohol ink over washi tape? It’s surprising how much it made the 3D embossing show up. For the sentiment, I used the corresponding colors to ink blend from light to dark.
All the products I used are listed – please click on these links (they are affiliate links) to help support my blog so I can continue to bring lots of content and inspiration. I appreciate all your support! 🥰

A bunch of cool cards. And as an avid Altenew fan/shopper I have most of what you’ve used. Yay! The one thing I’m missing is the unusual lattice embossing folder. Who makes that’s? Please.
It’s the ‘basic plaid’ embossing folder. Just used the back side of it. 💕
