Stencil Techniques with Embossing Powder
Hey there, crafty friends! Today, I’m excited to show you two fun stencil techniques that use embossing powder for texture, shine, and an elevated look. These techniques are perfect if you want to create beautiful cards without tons of coloring—just let the embossing and ink blending do the work! I’ll walk you through each technique so you can try these on your next project. 🌟 Don’t miss the video for all the details!
Card 1: Ink Blending + Embossing for a Polished Look
For the first card, I combined ink blending with embossing to create a vibrant, polished background with a layered effect. This technique allows you to blend in soft color tones while still achieving that raised, glossy finish with embossing powder.
Step One: Stenciling with Embossing Ink
For the 1st layer, I applied embossing ink over the stencil, then sprinkled it with Gold Rich embossing powder. Once heat set, you can add layers of ink blending.
Step Two: Ink Blending the Rest of the Layers
I started with a light color, then added darker tones to create shadows and make the floral elements come alive.
Final Touch: Die Cut Sentiment
To finish off, I cut the floral letters out with a coordinating die cut. I added these letters and small banner sentiment to a rich navy background for a polished look.
Card 2: Full Embossing Texture for a Rich Look
For the second card, I went all-in with embossing on every layer, creating a stunning, textured design without any ink blending. This approach is ideal for adding dimension and shine with minimal effort.
Layer One: Rich Gold Embossed Lettering
I started with Gold Rich embossing powder on the first layer, making the lettering really pop. After heat-setting, the gold had a gorgeous metallic finish, giving the card an elegant, polished look right from the start.
Layer Two: Polished Silver for the Leaves
For the leaves, I used Polished Silver embossing powder to create contrast with the gold lettering. The silver adds a sleek, shiny texture that perfectly complements the metallic tones without overpowering the design.
Layer Three: White Puff Embossing for the Flowers
To give the flowers an extra bit of texture, I went with White Puff embossing powder. This added a soft, raised effect that contrasts beautifully with the metallic layers. The puff finish adds a touch of whimsy, making the flowers stand out in a unique way.
Final Touch: Bling for the Berries ✨
To complete the look, I added a touch of sparkle to the berries with small embellishments. This little bit of bling pulls everything together, adding a hint of festive shine that makes the card feel extra special.
Why These Techniques Work for Any Stencil Set
Both of these techniques are super versatile and can be used with any layered stencil set. Whether you want a full embossing look with lots of texture or a blended, polished design, these approaches are perfect for any occasion. From metallics to soft puffs, these techniques allow each layer to shine in its own way, bringing out details that make each card feel one-of-a-kind.
