Sparkling Holiday Cards with the Simon Says Stamp “Sugar and Spice” Release

The brand-new Simon Says Stamp Sugar and Spice release is packed with festive possibilities, and I’m excited to share two cards I created as part of the blog hop celebration. Both designs bring shimmer, shine, and plenty of dimension—perfect for holiday crafting inspiration.

Card One: Rainbow Ornaments with Dimensional Shine

For the first card, I wanted to capture a playful pastel rainbow holiday look. I started by ink blending soft rainbow tones across my background, then layered a stencil with pastel snowflakes to give it that extra touch of winter magic.

The true showstopper? The ornaments! Using an embossing folder and coordinating dies, I created 3D ornaments out of holographic rainbow cardstock. The light catches these beautifully, adding sparkle and depth without overwhelming the pastel background. The mix of holographic shine and soft ink blending creates such a unique holiday vibe—definitely one of my favorite ornament cards to date!

Card Two: Textured Snowflake Elegance

My second card shifts into a more textural design featuring the large snowflake stencil. I applied Altenew embossing paste through the stencil, then sprinkled glass beads directly onto the wet paste. The result is a frosted, glittering snowflake effect that feels both elegant and festive.

To finish the card, I added a bold holographic rainbow die cut of the word “peace”, paired with a smaller supporting sentiment from the Inside Greetings: Holiday stamp set. It’s a clean design that makes the snowflake texture the star of the show while still keeping that rainbow shimmer tie-in.

  1. I love that ornament set and the holographic paper really added a lovely touch. Great release and it is hard to pick just one favorite!

  2. You have really pulled out all the creative stops on these two stunning non-traditional seasonal cards! I love your choice of the holographic paper for the ornaments on that beautifully shaded background and to add drama the soft snowflake with Peace. Great cards!

  3. Gorgeous shimmery cards and am loving that neat technique with the glass beads in the paste. Added such texture and drama, which I love!!

  4. Beautiful cards!! Love the use of the holographic paper on both cards!! The snowflake is stunning!! Thanks so much for sharing and inspiring.

  5. I love your cards!! Both of them are lovely! The cardstock you used for the greeting PEACE is so shiny and amazing. ✨️✨️✨️

  6. Like your take on the rainbow ornaments and the pastel look and how shiny the ornaments look. Your snowflake card looks so modern in that choice of gravel cardstock and the layout of this card with the details added elegance! 👏

  7. Both of these are just beautiful! Love the holographic ornaments! I have just a little holographic cardstock and am never to sure what to do with it but using it for ornaments or even snowflakes is an excellent idea!

  8. As always, your cards are absolutely beautiful!!! I love how the “peace” came out! You are so creative and always show us how to use different textures, mediums, etc! Thank you so much for the inspiration!

  9. Beautiful cards. That Peace sentiment with holographic paper is gorgeous. The detail on the ornaments is just beautiful. Great job Nicki.

  10. Thank you so much! I really appreciate you noticing all the details of my cards. I really had fun experimenting with the holographic paper. It’s a little hard to photograph so I was glad that you could get the feel for how stunning it is. I don’t know why but I immediately thought “Peace” really went with that snowflake – maybe I subconsciously saw peace signs as well 😃 I had been wanting to use these beads on a project and so glad that I experimented with it on the paste – it really turned out better than I expected. Thanks for taking the time to notice and comment on all of this- you definitely made my day. 💕

  11. I purchased the ornaments 3D embossing folder and dies the first day as I knew they would make beautiful cards. I never would thought to use holographic paper for the ornaments but it really adds a super “wow”!

  12. Nicki, both of your cards are stunning!!! I love the shine and beautiful texture. Thanks for your inspiration.

  13. I love your usage of Holographic paper on your Christmas cards, I for some reason haven’t ever used it on my Christmas cards, instead I use a lot of glitter and metallic papers, I guess I wait to pull it out for New Years, but why wait? It sparkles, shines & adds lots of drama and interest, In your case it made wonderful ornaments on your pastel card, the light reflects off of the ornaments like tree lights would be reflecting off of delicate glass ornaments hanging on a tree. I’m so in love with your “snowflake” card the embossing paste was a great addition & perfect medium to use with the stencil. From the first second I saw the new snowflake stencil my eyes saw repeated “Peace signs” so pairing that beautiful “snowflake” with the holographic Peace was like Peanut Butter & Jelly, made for each other. The little beads give it a little icy texture. Your cards are great examples of expression and showing how the supplies we choose to use can really add drama & interest. Wonderful cards !!
