Feminine Card Set for AECP Level 1 Project
Hi, friends! Today, I want to show you a card set that I made for my Level 1 final project with Altenew Educator Certification course. I used things I learned from the classes “Layered Stamping,” “Let it Shine,” and “Seasonal Scene Building.” In layered stamping, I learned how to perfect the use of layered stamps for maximal effect and experimented with Altenew’s ink sets for layered stamping. The “Let it Shine” class gave me great ways to add subtle metallic, glitter and foil accents. Lastly, the scene building class helped me experiment masking my images to layer and was the inspiration for the large floral backgrounds for several of these cards. So, let’s get into the project!
Card #1:
First, I started with heat embossing the flower on watercolor paper. Masking paper was placed on the flower to stamp the leaves. Next, I used Versamark ink with a blending brush through parts of the woven stencil. After stenciling, I heat embossed with gold over the stenciled image. Next, I used Altenew inks to watercolor the background and the flower. I added some woodless watercolor pencils to give definition. The sentiment was not from Altenew but fit nicely in this space with gold backed on slate card stock. Altenew jet black ink was splattered with some white acrylic splatters. Black pearls were then added around the sentiment and parts of the flower to complete the card.
Card #2:
Several things came together to make this card. First, I started by stamping a large background of peonies without their outline images using techniques from seasonal scene building and layered stamping classes.
This background was used for the next card as well. I love the look of a background of flowers without their outline image for a softer look.
Next, I used the organic linen 3D embossing folder on the white part of this card. This is hard to see in these pictures so check this next one out.
Now, to create the inlaid die cut part of this card. I die cut the “thanks” circle out of gold foil card stock and attached it to the white background which I had already die cut a circle out of the center. To create the inlaid feature, I had to cut the background with the thanks die but keep all the pieces together. I removed the background pieces where the “thanks” was going to sit and placed the gold die cut in these indentions. Next, I fit the “thanks” into the indentions made by the die. To finish off this card, I add a bouquet of peonies and greenery. These were layered stamps with the outline images gold heat embossed.
Card #3:
This card uses parts of the same background used in the previous card. I wanted to try Jennifer McGuire’s cut apart background and I love the results! I mounted these pieces on slate card stock. Next, I cut out the sentiment in gold foil and 3 times in thick white card stock. All these were glued together to make the sentiment stand off the card. Last, I added some gold baubles to accent the front. This “for you” die is so versatile. To make it a birthday card, I added a sentiment to the inside of the card as well.
Card #4:
This card shows the organic linen 3D embossing folder better because I added some gold to the image with an ink pad. Next, I die cut some fine frames and the sentiment out of gold foil card stock. The peony outline and greenery was gold heat embossed. I used layered stamping for the flowers and greenery. All that was left to do was add some vellum to back the sentiment and decide how to lay out the card.
Card #5:
I started this card by gold heat embossing a background scene, using masking to place the leaves. This is a time consuming process. I decided to stamp over the outline image. This is risky if you don’t want ink to rub on the background but I like the control of this when I know I am coloring the background.
Once all the images were completely finished, I started the process of coloring the background with my C7 copic marker. I love the dramatic effect this gives.
After coloring, I added a frame and bold “thanks” in gold card stock. I backed the sentiment in vellum for a little extra emphasis.
Now, let’s move to the packaging. I used my recycled element on the packaging with scraps of paper and scraps of twine.
I cut these pieces into various sizes of tags using the “Terrific Tags” set. Next, I took the woven stencil and my gold ink pad and did some stenciling on it. I used the “just for you” sentiment gold heat embossed on one of the small tags and combined all the tags with a grommet. The tassel and twine were added to the grouping to finish it.
I’ll leave you with some final pictures of the set. Please make sure to click through the links below if you are shopping for crafts soon to help support my blog and Youtube channel. I appreciate your time and clicks more than you can know!!!
