Embossing Folder Trick for Colorful Handmade Cards + Giveaway!

Want to create some bold, colorful cards? Want to use your embossing folders in a different way for your handmade cards? Let’s look at 4 different ways to add color to an embossing folder. These tips for embossing folder use the new Altenew January Release that is out today. For all the details and to enter in the giveaway head to my YouTube video.

The first trick is to start with colored card stock. I am using lavendar fields from Altenew. Next, we will start adding color with ink blending.

Usually, I use the raised side of the embossing folder but for today’s technique, I am using the depressed or letterpress side of the embossed paper.

I added 2 darker purples and some black to the outside edges of the card front. Next I added a little color in the center of the flower. Once the ink blending looked like I wanted, it was time to start adding gold to my handmade card.

To add the gold elements, I started with a gold pigment ink pad. To increase the brightness in different areas of the flower and to create gold splatter, I used metallic watercolor.
