Build-a-Stocking Cards with Sparkling Details for Christmas

Hey, crafty friends! I’m excited to show you two holiday cards featuring the Build-a-Stocking die cuts from the NEW Papertrey Ink Release! I love creating Christmas cards so let’s go all out with sparkling details and non-traditional pastel colors to give these Christmas cards a fresh and unique twist. If you’re looking to elevate your holiday cards with a little extra sparkle and creativity, these designs are perfect for you! Don’t miss the new Reel on Instagram featuring these cards.

Card 1: Teal Stocking with Glitter Accents

For the first card, I started by creating a sparkling berry background. After some fun ink blending, I added a layer of iridescent sparkle spray to give the background a magical shine. To add even more texture, I splattered white acrylic paint droplets across the card and tried something new—while the paint was still wet, I sprinkled glitter over the white splatters and let it dry, creating beautiful glittery flecks. ✨

For the teal stocking, I used a stunning specialty paper from Your Paper Insider, which brings an incredible texture to the design. To amp up the tactile feel, I added some white felt cardstock to the top of the stocking, giving it a cozy, festive look. And of course, I couldn’t resist taking it one step further—I applied some glue to the top of the stocking and sprinkled glitter over it to create extra sparkle. I even added glitter accents to all the adorable stocking contents for that perfect finishing touch! ✨

Card 2: Quilted Background with Gems

This card is packed with sparkle and intricate details! I began by ink blending the background, then used a quilted coverplate to create the beautiful textured pattern. To finish it off, I added a delicate white splatter for a little extra dimension.

For the stocking, I kept things simple with ink blending on cardstock, but added some felt cardstock to the top of the stocking for even more texture. To bring the design together, I added some pink gems on the holly and tree accents, adding that perfect touch of sparkle to make the card really shine!

Both cards show how you can use the Build-a-Stocking die to create dazzling designs that step away from traditional holiday colors. With a little creativity and some extra sparkle from specialty papers, glitter, and gems, you can make your Christmas cards stand out this season! Whether you’re a fan of soft pastels or bold jewel tones, these cards will inspire you to add a little more shine to your holiday creations. 💫
