I had so much fun with this class. It teaches you about moods associated with different colors and the challenge was to create something that reflected your mood. I chose rainbow colors because I am so happy to have completed my recent move across the country and to be crafting again! This card is inspired by Mona Toth, she does lots of rainbows in her work and is a great crafter for rainbow inspiration. Definitely check out the video of how these flowers came together.

Do you do your background or you main feature first? I usually start with the main feature but had a plan for the background. So, let’s start with heat embossing the image on Bristol Smooth paper with Wow Opaque White embossing powder. Next, I used small blending brushes to make a rainbow of colors on my petals and leaves. The colors in order were Festive Berries, Spiced Marmalade, Mustard Seed, Prize Ribbon and Wilted Violet.

The next technique was to add dimension with a white colored pencil. I learned this technique from Mona Toth and love the results that it produces.

After the coloring was finished, I started on the background. I wanted to use my new color of distress ink (Prize Ribbon) to coordinate with the same distress oxide that I used on the flower. The distress ink is more transparent and makes the perfect background for this card. I used one of the extra die cut pieces as a stencil to add some shadows in all the right places.

After the background was completed, I realized that I needed a few more elements and decided to heat emboss some vellum leaves to add to the card. I wanted my sparkle elements to be holographic so I die cut my sentiment from holographic paper and added some embellishments with a holographic quality.
