Stenciling Over Die Cuts + Ink Blended Vellum for the Cutest Rooster Card

If you’ve been using your dies the same way every time, this technique is going to completely change that.

This adorable rooster card combines stenciling over die cuts with ink blended vellum to create soft color, layered detail, and a finished look that feels so polished.

The stencil adds variation and depth right on top of the die cuts, which brings the entire design to life in a way that simple die cutting just can’t do on its own.

The Vellum Detail That Makes the Difference

To balance all that detail, I added a piece of vellum with soft ink blending behind the design.

This step diffuses the color just enough to keep the focus on the rooster while still giving the background a beautiful glow.

It’s a small detail, but it really pulls everything together and gives the card that finished look.

Coming This Friday…

If you love this idea, I’m going even further with it.

I’ll be live this Friday at 3pm sharing 3 new ways to use your dies… including techniques that go beyond basic die cutting and really help you stretch what you already have.

You’re going to see some fun folds, unexpected uses, and a few ideas that might completely change how you look at your dies.
